Crossing Paths

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus”

Philippians 2:5

It was C.S. Lewis who wrote, “If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this.” Those words could not be more true when you examine the life of Jesus while He walked this earth. From his earliest childhood days Jesus understood why He was born and what His purpose in this world was. Jesus was born into this world to be about His Father’s business and nothing, not anyone would distract Him from accomplishing the Father’s will.

Just like Jesus, you and I were born into this world for a purpose too. There are no accidents with God. Like Queen Esther you and I were born for such a time is this. Mark Twain captured the thought best when he penned these words, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why." The Good News of the Gospel is for those who are in Christ Jesus is that our purpose for being born and more important, “Born Again” is revealed to us in the Word of God. Actually we have a two fold purpose in this life. First to know God. God desires that we seek to know Him, and not to just know information about God but to know Him personally as we go about our day. God is everywhere and in everything. Nothing can compare to being aware and sensing His presence and His leading and guiding us along. Second, God’s desire is that we seek to make Him known. Our God is the God of revelation and He has chosen to live in us and to work through us to reveal Himself to the world.

Just as Jesus purpose was to provide salvation by His atoning sacrifice upon Calvary’s Cross, our purpose in life is to bring glory to the Father and one way we can accomplish this is by pointing others to salvation by sharing the love and life of Jesus Christ with them. Keep that in mind today as you go about His business. God causes our paths to, “cross”  as it were with others so that Jesus becomes the center of attention. Our paths will “cross” with people who have never heard of Jesus Christ and what a privilege it is today to have the opportunity to share the power of the Cross with them as the Lord leads. We will also “cross” paths with other followers of Jesus who were meant to “cross” paths with us, to be mutually encouraged together. Thats Christian fellowship and is what helps us to both know and grow in our relationship with Jesus.

Yes, loved one, your life has meaning and purpose today. Walk with God today with the excitement and understanding that every person who crosses your path is an opportunity to share the Cross, remembering…

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

1 Corinthians 1:18

I LOVE YOU!
