Are You Jesus?
I was doing some devotional reading in the book of Colossians last week when the Lord quickened verse 17 in chapter 3 to my mind as a verse that would be a wonderful life verse for me for 2024. As I read it, it really spoke to me and I determined to include it in my morning prayer each day this year and to put it to memory to remind myself what the apostle Paul wrote, “And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.”
As I read over verses 1-17 of Colossians 3 a story came to mind where in WWII a German soldier dressed in his uniform was walking into a bakery one day when he passed a young boy sitting on the edge of the road. Their eyes met but nothing was said though the soldier smiled. Upon leaving the bakery the soldier approached the boy and handed him a brown paper bag with a few donuts inside. Again no words were exchanged, the soldier simply handed the bag to the boy and smiled as he walked away. The boy looked in the bag and with gratitude he yelled out to the soldier who by then was about ten feet or so away, “hey mister, are you Jesus?”
Oh the joy we can have today representing Jesus to people by the things we say and the deeds we do! Let's make it our goal today to leave people asking us, “Are you Jesus?”
“Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.”
Ephesians 5:1-2
I LOVE YOU!
