A Better Way
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
John 14:6
Some say all religions are basically the same, and that in the end all that matters is that people believe. Thats a pretty bold statement when you consider that if you are wrong about heaven and hell the consequences are eternal. I have yet to meet someone who believes all doctors are equal so if you need surgery for some life threatening condition any old doctor is good. On the contrary, when it comes to matters of life and death you want to do everything to ensure you will live.
Religion has never saved anyone for the simple fact is keeping rules has never justified anyone as the purpose of the law is to show that we are all guilty before God. When people say Christianity claims to be the only way to God it’s important to know who the person is who made this claim. It was God Himself as John 3:16 makes clear when it says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son…”
If any old religion could save people then Jesus didn’t need to die on Calvary’s Cross. In reality, Christianity is the fulfillment of the law or better put, Jesus Christ is the end of the law for all who believe. Christianity is God’s new way of living which made the law obsolete. God’s law exposes our sin but does nothing to provide us forgiveness or victory over sin. Only Jesus offers us forgiveness for our sins and the power to enjoy victory over our sin. The law condemns us but Jesus saves us!
Religious people will always tell you the things you need to do in order to be saved. They give us rules and regulations. That is what religion was intended to do. Christianity always shares Jesus Christ as the means to salvation and what He has done. Remember this simple mathematical equation, “Jesus + Nothing = Salvation.” Hebrews 12:24 reminds us, “You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness.” Hebrews 8:6 puts it like this, “But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.” The point being, God Himself is telling us Jesus is a more excellent way and following Jesus is a better way to live than trying to follow a lot of rules.
All roads might lead to heaven but there is only one door which will gain us access to get in and that door is Jesus Christ who He Himself said in John 10:14-15, “I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.” Yes, loved one, Jesus is not only the only way to heaven, He is a better way to enjoy the journey there too!
“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Psalm 16:11
