This IS The Day

“This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it”

Psalm 118:24

The preacher said, “This is the day that the Lord has made so let us rejoice and be glad in it” and many in the congregation had to be thinking, “is he not aware of what’s going on in the world today?” After all, you can’t turn on the tv or computer without hearing the news about something horrific taking place around the world. We hear daily, some days multiple times throughout the day and from a verity of sources the ever increasing warning of wars and rumors of war. Lawlessness, insecure and unstable economies, murder and mayhem are everywhere you turn. It’s no longer just a bible verse, people really are calling “good evil and evil good” these days. Its getting so bad we find ourselves turning the channel because we just can’t bare the news any longer.

I use to laugh at my dad for watching those old black and white reruns of television programs like, “The Andy Griffith Show” and the numerous western movies that were on channel 5 in the afternoon. You might recall some of them. Shows like, “The Big Valley” “Bonanza” “The Rifleman” just to name a few. Now I think I understand what he was doing. He was reliving in his own life the memories of what many of us would call “The Good Old Days”.

The good news today is we don’t need to look backwards to find “The Good Old Days” or better days. The word of God teaches us we can be glad today living with the knowledge that better days are coming and in the meantime we can enjoy the presence of God today because God Himself promised He would never leave us nor forsake us. Take advantage of the fact that if you are in Christ today God is with you, right by your side.

Take time today to talk with God and to walk with Him. When difficulties come your way reach up to God for help. When you become anxious about the myriad of things that can and will stress us out just do what His Word tells us to do, “cast all of your cares upon Him for He cares about you.” Get in the Word of God and let His Word dwell in you richly reminding you to walk by faith and not by the things you see because the things we see will one day pass away and then all things will be come new!

Yes, my friends, this is the day that the Lord has made so let us rejoice and be glad in it knowing God is in it too and everything that happens today is preparing us for a hope and a future tomorrow!

“You are my God, and I will praise you! You are my God, and I will exalt you! Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.”

Psalm 118:28–29

I LOVE YOU!
