Ask Away

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Matthew 7:7-8

I read years ago a statement that has always excited me. It went something like this, “Heaven is full of answers to prayers that have yet to be prayed.” From reading Jesus own words in Matthew 7 I know thats a true statement. The question I keep asking myself is, why don’t I pray more knowing God is inviting us to come to Him and ask.

If you are like me often times I don’t feel worthy of receiving anything from God. God knows the sin that is in my life and I know it too so I often think to myself, “why bother?” The reason we should pray and not limit ourselves in asking God for the things we need and want is for the simple fact, God invites us to ask Him and He never bases His answers on our worthiness. God answers prayer because He is worthy. We don’t pray and expect answers to our prayers because of who we are. We expect answers to our prayers because of who God is.

Keep that in mind today when you pray. God answers our prayers to teach us of His mercy and grace, His kindness and goodness, His awareness and attentiveness and most of all His love. Yes, loved one, God answers our prayers on the basis of who He is and what Jesus has done for us! Ask away!
