Safe In His Hands

“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10

This last week brought many prayer requests for members of our church family who are dealing with major health issues. Hearing them I’m reminded that everyone you know today is facing some kind of battle, seen or unseen. The good news today if you are trusting in Jesus is that He is working in whatever circumstance you find yourself to mold you into the person He desires you to be. An older song by Casting Crowns comes to mind, “In The Hands of The Potter” and the lyrics go like this…

I still remember when I heard You call me by name
I'd follow You anywhere, knew I could trust You in anything
But now sorrow beats down on me, waiting for You to come through
I'm all alone with my questions, I'm dry and cracked open
And I thirst for You
And as I fall apart
Come flood this desert heart
Fall like the rain, Living Water
And I know Your way is best
Lord, help me find my rest
And I'll be the clay
In the Hands of the Potter
My world is spinning, my life seems so out of control
Nailed, scarred hands tell the story of love that will never let go of me
Through the sunshine or rain, I know where my hope is found
What You started in me, I know You will complete from the inside out
And as I fall apart
Come flood this desert heart
Fall like the rain, Living Water
And I know Your way is best
Lord, help me find my rest
And I'll be the clay
In the Hands of the Potter
My world is breaking me, Your love is shaping me
And now the enemy is afraid of what You're making me
When my world is breaking me, Your love is shaping me
And now the enemy is afraid of what You're making me
My world is breaking me, Your love is shaping me
And now the enemy is afraid of what You're making me
And as I fall apart
Come flood this desert heart
Fall like the rain, Living Water
And I know Your way is best
Lord, help me find my rest
And I'll be the clay
In the Hands of the Potter
And I'll be the clay
In the Hands of the Potter (song ends)

It’s a beautiful song to remind us that when your world is breaking you, God’s love is shaping you, and the enemy is afraid of what you are becoming in Jesus. What we need to do when life doesn’t make sense to us is remember like the song says, “And I know Your way is best, Lord, help me find my rest, And I’ll be the clay in the Hands of the Potter.” After all, God’s Word is clear on this, “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). Isn’t that what the song is communicating to us, “My world is spinning, my life seems so out of control, Nailed, scarred hands tell the story of love that will never let go of me, Through the sunshine or rain, I know where my hope is found, What You started in me, I know You will complete from the inside out.” Powerful words that only someone who like the psalmist has walked through the valley of the shadow of death and came out on the other side with God by their side.

Just know, loved one, what ever you are going through today you aren’t going through it alone. God is with you and has made a promise of a lifetime, as He has promised to never leave you nor forsake you. Jesus will be by your side every step of the way offering you in His nail scarred hands as a comfort like only His hands can. You are safe in the Father’s hands as well as the Son’s. You have double protection as you go about your day so relax, take God’s hand remembering what Jesus said,

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. I and My Father are one."

John 10:27-30

I LOVE YOU!
