Absolutely Positively True

“These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.”

1 John 5:13

Truth is not subjective as some might want you to believe. Take God for example. There are those who would say there is a God while others would argue that there is not. Believing in God or not believing in God doesn’t change the fact that there is a God, it simply determines your eternal destiny. If people were honest there is more evidence for the existence of God than there is for anything else in the universe. God’s fingerprints are on everything that exists. It actually takes more faith to not believe in God than it does to believe.

Christians want eternal security and the good news is its ours for the believing and receiving. All you need to do to enjoy eternal security is to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and to place your hope and trust in God and leave it there. Easier said than done I understand but not because it’s difficult but rather because we doubt. Simon Greenleaf, Harvard Law Professor and founder of the Simon Greenleaf School of Law wrote, “A person who rejects Christ may choose to say that I do not accept it, he may not choose to say there is not enough evidence.”

The best evidence for our eternal security is the empty tomb. Since the Christian life is based solely on what God has done for us in Christ Jesus, believing is everything. And the really good news is we are not called to believe in ourselves but in God and what He has done for us. The less we trust in ourselves and the more we trust in God, the better off we will be and the more peace we will enjoy.

Read what the apostle Paul wrote with regard to righteousness (which is another word for “right standing” with God) in Romans 4:24-25,  “…It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.

The next time you doubt your salvation, the next time the enemy of your soul reminds you of all the sins you have committed and whispers to you that there is no way God could love you and no way you could be saved, just remember these two things,

1. Jesus Himself said in Luke 5:31-32, “Jesus answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” In other words, there are no perfect people in heaven, only forgiven. Nobody is perfect and yet to get into heaven it takes perfection and that is why God sent His Only Begotten Son to die on the Cross for us, in our place. The perfect sinless sacrifice of Jesus is what paid the price for our entry into heaven.

2. The apostle Paul explains in a single sentence the purpose of Jesus death upon the Cross and what the empty tomb mean to everyone who believes. Read Romans 4:25, “who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.

Do you get that, better still do you receive it? Jesus didn’t come to earth to make good men and women better, Jesus came to give dead people life. Jesus didn’t die because of anything He had done. He died in your place and mine so that we could be saved and enjoy eternal life and the irrefutable proof of that isn’t our faith, but rather the empty tomb. That’s right, the empty tomb is all the proof you need as the empty tomb is our guarantee. Jesus was raised again for our justification, and our faith in Him provides for us imputed righteousness that wiped our slate clean and grants us perfect standing before God. You can not be more secure than you are in Christ. After all it was Jesus Himself who said…

“And I give to them eternal life, and they shall by no means perish forever, and no one shall snatch them out of My hand. My Father is greater than all, and no one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand.”

John 10:28-29

I LOVE YOU!
