Check Your Bag

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Matthew 11:28–30

It’s not uncommon to check our bags upon entering anything from an airplane to an amusement park. The reasons vary as to why we are required to check our bags but most often it has something to do with our personal safety or security. Consider church for a moment. What if to come before the Lord each of us had to check our bags so to speak before coming in. What if we were met at the door by some heavenly host who assisted us in emptying all our troubles and cares out before entering the sanctuary so that our focus could be completely on the Lord. After all, worship isn’t about us it’s about God and our undivided attention is to be on Him and not ourselves.

How much more satisfying might our worship experience be if we learned how to drop all our cares off at the door and leave them there. Most of us if we did that probably wouldn’t even return to pick them up after the service was over. Worship sets us free!

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.”

Psalm 100:4

I LOVE YOU!
