Happy You Day!

“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand…”

Psalm 139:17-18 (NKJV)

Today my wife and I celebrate our oldest child’s birthday, our daughter Bree. Actually, this week we have had the pleasure of celebrating the first two of our 3 B’s as we like to call them, Bree, Brett and Brandon. Brett’s birthday is the 22nd and Bree’s is today the 25th. My wife and I share a wish for our children that I hope for you as well.

Today, my hope and prayer for you is to have an experience with God like King David did in the psalms. When he considered his own life and how intuitive God is he was overwhelmed. David penned his thoughts in Psalm 139:14-18 where he says, “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.”

Just think, the God who created the heavens and the earth created you and is mindful of you too. He is interested in you so much so He knows things about you that you are completely unaware. Consider Jesus words in Luke 12:6-7, “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” Yes, loved one, when the facts are on the table, God is very interested in you because He loves and cares for you!

Isaiah 43:7 reminds us, “Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him." And we find the reason why in the New Testament when the apostle Paul pens these words in Colossians 1:16, “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.” In other words, you and I are not accidents, we were created by design. We were created for God’s own pleasure loved one, and you have gifts and skills that make you unique from every other person who has ever graced this earth, and the best way then to understand how and why God gave us life is to sit before Him, taking an interest in understanding His purposes and plans, getting to know Him through His Word and in prayer.

Of all the things my wife and I wish for our children on their birthdays is to remember that God has a purpose for their lives, a reason beyond their mother and I that they were born into this world and as much as we love and adore our kids, God loves them even more and has a plan for their lives that can only be discovered as they get to know Him. My wish for you is the same thing too. May you come to know the very reason you were born, the why of your being here. May you get to know Jesus in a deeper way today knowing when you do, you discover more of you and the plans and the purposes He has for you.

“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Psalm 16:11

I LOVE YOU!
