Your Best Life Forever
“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10
You hear a lot these days about living your best life now and it sounds exciting and appealing and yet in reality it is a lie, a virtual impossibility since in order to obtain our best life, we have to leave this life for heaven. If we could truly live our best life now Jesus never would have said in John 14 that it was better that He go to the Father. If anyone knew it was Jesus of what heaven is like since He left it in all of its glory and splendor to come to earth to die for our sins so we could experience eternal life for ourselves.
This world is marked by hurt and heartache, death and disease, doubts, depression and discouragement and a host of other words that begin with the letter “D”. Jesus said in this world we will have sorrow but to take heart because He has overcome the world. Jesus death and resurrection defeated death and disease, depression, and discouragement, dissatisfaction and disappointment. As a matter of fact the Bible makes clear that those who put their trust in Jesus will not be disappointed.
If you are seeking only to live your best life now you are selling yourself way too short. Raise your gaze! Look up and determine to live your best life forever as the best life we can live ever is the one that is committed to living forever! Begin each day with the end in mind. There is an old saying that goes, “It makes no difference if you win or lose, it’s how you play the game.” In other words, the means will justify the end. Thats what Augustine had in mind when he said, “Love God and do as you please” because when you love God you will set out each day to do what pleases Him. That is why Jesus said we could fulfill all the law and the prophets by doing two things, “You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind” and the result of that will overflow so that you can, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Keep this in mind today and remember, the best way to live your best life ever is to live each day with forever in mind.
“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God”
