No Potlucks In Heaven

“Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”

Revelation 19:9

Have you ever sat down to a good meal and immediately you thought about heaven? I mean the meal tasted so good the first words out of your mouth were like, “Oh my God, this is divine” or “this tastes like heaven.”  I believe God enjoys when we have thoughts like that as they serve to help us think forward and to what it’s going to be like in heaven one day. It’s like we got a taste of better things to come. The apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 2:9-10, “But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.” Jesus shared a lot of meals with people while He walked the earth and left His disciples with a reminder that one day He would sit down and share a meal with them again. Not a potluck but a wedding feast.

There might be a buffet line or smorgasbord in heaven but one thing for sure is there won’t be any potlucks, as the term “potluck” is used in reference to a situation in which one must take a chance that whatever is available will prove to be good or acceptable. Proverbs 16:33 reminds us, “The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.” God has left nothing to chance with regard to heaven and the marriage supper of the Lamb. Unlike even the most elaborate wedding reception this world has ever known they can’t compare to what is in store one day for those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb. This celebration has been in the making since before the world was even made. And just think, you can have a seat at the table with your name on it and where only the best of the best foods and delicacies will be served. Not only will the place settings be eye appealing, the food will leave your mouth watering, completely satisfied and yet wanting more, which won’t be a problem as Jesus satisfies. Everything at the celebration will be absolutely perfect, fit for a king you could say.

The only requirement for you to secure your reservation, to ensure you have a seat at the table is you must RSVP yourself. No one can do it for you. Secure your invitation to the marriage supper of the Lamb by calling on the name of the Lord to be saved just as the Bible says we must do. Romans 10:8-13 tells us how we can guarantee our place at the wedding, “But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” See you at the wedding! Make sure you try the angel food cake! Its heavenly!

I LOVE YOU!
