You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father”

John 14:12

If you read John 14 in context you understand Jesus wasn’t telling His disciples that they were going to do works greater in quality than what Jesus Himself had done as that would be pretty much impossible. After all, Jesus healed every kind of disease that there was. He raised the dead and even made human body parts out of mud. What Jesus meant when He said “greater works” was with regard to the volume of the works His disciples would do when Jesus returned to the Father. God was in Christ when Jesus walked the earth and now that Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father and the Holy Spirit is available to live and move within the lives of Jesus followers. Imagine millions of people filled with the Holy Spirit going around every day asking for things “in Jesus name!”

I read a quote yesterday that said, “When you pray for a miracle and you don’t get one, be one!” That brought to mind Jesus words in John 14. Today is just waiting to happen and the opportunities to be used of God are countless as Gods greatest miracles always come in the form of people. “Not all hero’s wear capes” as the saying goes and it was Jesus who said, “the greatest among you is the servant”. God is a miracle working God and miracles are needed today as much as at any point in human history.

Here’s something to consider as you go about your day today. Sometimes God calls us to be the answer to our own prayers. Instead of praying God send someone, be like Isaiah who prayed, “Lord send me”. That thought reminds me of a scene from the movie “The Guardian” that is about Coast Guard Swimmers. In the movie, Senior Chief Rangel (played by Kevin Costner) tells the class of recruits while they are watching actual footage of previous rescues at sea, “There will come a time when you will have to say no. The most important person to keep alive is yourself. You'll be facing crews from 5 to 20 all saying "Save me, save me". They're looking for a miracle. You have to find a way to be that miracle.”

The good news today is you and I don’t have to say “No” when people need a miracle. We don’t even have to try to find a way is we already know the way. We have the opportunity to say, “In Jesus Name” as we pray and go about the Father’s business today. Talk about exciting as Jesus words are realized in your life and mine. We don’t have to doubt if God can do the miraculous, Jesus already proved He does. We just need to be willing to say, “you ain’t seen nothing yet” as we watch God move when we take God at His word when Jesus says…

“You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!”

John 14:13-14

I LOVE YOU!
