Don't Dissolve, Resolve!

“The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

Lamentations 3:22–23

The article began, “Grab some ice cream, skip that workout, and spend more time on your phone on Ditch New Year’s Resolutions Day on January 17! If all your grand resolutions for the year have started to seem unrealistic or more of a chore than actual commitment, then today is your guilt-free opportunity to scrap these resolutions and run for the hills!” I get it, as someone who has failed way more than I have succeeded in sticking with New Years resolutions. What I have learned over the years is this, “its better to try and fail than to fail to try.” Proverbs 24:16 reminds us that even the godly will fall 7 times, but they will get back up! Why you might ask? The mercies of God are new every morning, thats why! Today is a brand new day filled with opportunity and hope.

Often times the difference between failure and success is trying to do things on our own without the help and support of others, namely God. From the beginning God has recognized that it is not good for man to be alone or for man to attempt to go it alone. We were not created for independence but to be interdependent. It’s just one reason God has given us His Spirit to be with us, and why He created the church, the body of Christ so we wouldn’t be without the support we all need. Don’t dissolve your New Years resolution, resolve it instead. Fix your eyes on Jesus today and keep in mind the words of the apostle Paul who said, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13).

I LOVE YOU!
