Sleeping Like A Baby

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.”

Isaiah 26:3

Christmas time these days can be a lot more stressful than joyful for many because of the world we live in, especially in these last days. You can’t turn on the news without hearing some chilling report of yet another murder or attack on innocent people. If you are a rational thinking person you have probably asked yourself “how long can God let this go on?” I don’t know the answer to that question but I do know something that is more important that God reveals to us in the Christmas story that will encourage you and embolden you when you understand it and receive it for yourself.

When Jesus came into the world, He did so by taking on human flesh. Being God He could have come at any age He so chooses and yet He chose to come to us as a helpless baby boy completely dependent on the love and care of His parents and more important, His Heavenly Father. (Talk about humbling yourself and submitting your life completely to the care of another). Jesus was born a baby to accomplish many things, beside making salvation possible, another was to teach us God is sovereign and in complete control. I so appreciate that famous quote, “the safest place to be is in the center of God’s will and the most dangerous place to be is anywhere else.”

Being in God’s will Jesus was immortal until the moment God would say otherwise and so are you and I. Even though Jesus was born into the world during the Roman Empire and crucifixion was being perfected as a form of torture by evil men who had no regard for humanity, Jesus was completely safe even though King Herod sought to destroy him. While all these heinous plans were being concocted Jesus slept like a baby, literally, because God was and is always in control.

You too can sleep like a baby this Christmas by trusting and walking in the will of God in your own life. The best way to be in God’s will is to follow the example of Jesus own mother, Mary, who responded to the Word of God spoken to her by the angel saying, “Let it be to me according to Your Word.” Mary demonstrated peace and rest are not enjoyed because of our understanding. We sleep easy when we trust and rest in God and His love and care for us!

I LOVE YOU!
