The Gift Is The Giver

“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

John 15:13

One of the many things most of us enjoy about the Christmas season is hearing all those heart warming stories of outward displays of kindness and compassion offered by complete strangers to those in need. The spirit of Christmas is the spirit of giving but before you spend a lot of money on gifts that break, wear out or go out of style consider the following statement, “Every selfless act of love is a declaration of faith.”

Don’t misunderstand, sometimes because of human need the best gifts are monetary, yet often times what is needed most money can’t buy nor can it be found under a tree. Gifts that mean the most and last the longest are always those that come from the heart. That’s the reason John 3:16 is so well known around the world. The worlds greatest selfless act of love was revealed to us when God the Father gave His only begotten Son for the sins of the world that first Christmas.

Because actions speak louder then words every selfless act of love is a declaration of faith. It’s how we help people connect the dots that God is real and that He cares. If we want people to comprehend the message of Christmas we must look for tangible ways to meet their need because thats what the Gospel is all about. The Father understood our greatest need was forgiveness and that is why He gave us Jesus, and every act of Jesus Christ on this earth was a selfless act of love, a declaration of faith. Yes, loved one, the true meaning of Christmas will always be best represented by our selfless acts of love as a declaration of our faith because we live in a world that is becoming increasingly biblically illiterate and yet remains in desperate need of God’s love. Because the needs are great let’s look for ways to declare our faith this Christmas through selfless acts of love.

I LOVE YOU!
