How To Vote

In one week across the USA we will once again exercise one of the greatest privileges each American citizen of age is afforded, a voice in the direction our country will go. Without undermining the sovereignty of God, the Lord has allowed us as citizens the freedom to choose the quality of our lives by electing officials to oversee many functions regarding every day life. We not only have a God given right to choose our elected officials, we have an obligation to do so and to do so prayerfully and biblically. Why you might be thinking? Romans 13:1 puts it plainly, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.” Verse 2 takes it a step further, “Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.”

God Himself established government and His Word makes it clear He controls the course of world events as Daniel 2:21 reminds us, “He removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.” Careful study of the Old Testament reveals most of the kings of Israel dishonored the Lord during their reign and because they did not seek the Lord the people suffered. The quality of the life we enjoy as citizens will be in direct proportion to the degree our elected officials honor God in their decision making process. We reap what we sow in the electoral process and is why the apostle Paul admonished Timothy, “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”

The key to a peaceable life is to vote biblically, according to what the Bible teaches and elect officials whose policies support God’s Word. Not every moral person is a follower of Christ. If you had to choose between a candidate who claimed to be a Christian yet failed to uphold the most fundamental truths in scripture, that being the sanctity of marriage between one biological man and a biological woman, and the sanctity of life within a mothers womb, or one who had no religious affiliation yet consistently stood for righteousness in society who would you vote for? The choices are far beyond Red and Blue. The real choice that should determine our vote are between what the Bible says are good and evil. So, be prayerful and vote biblically.

I LOVE YOU!
