No Plan B

As I watched an Instagram reel yesterday someone put the caption over the top of it, “Always Have A Plan B” where a kid in an orchestra was playing the symbols as the Star Spangled Banner was played when suddenly one of the symbols handles broke during his performance and it fell to the ground. Standing in the center while everyone around him was seated, all eyes were on this young boy who was helpless with now only one symbol in hand. Without missing a beat he improvised, implementing a plan B he set the remaining symbol down and then turned toward the American flag and began saluting the flag while the rest of the orchestra played on. Pure brilliance on the part of this kid!

One of the most difficult things to wrap the human mind around regarding how God operates in the world on a day to day basis is that He has no plan B. Because God is sovereign and in complete control, anything and everything that happens throughout history does so to bring glory to God. Jesus Christ being born into this world to die for our sins to reconcile us back to God was never the Father’s plan B, it was always His plan A. Try wrapping your mind around that one today and your brain will hurt.

Since we aren’t God and lack perfect knowledge we will need to prepare and have a plan B periodically as we go through life. The good news today though is with regard to our faith and in particular our salvation, we don’t need a plan B. Actually the word of God warns us to not have a plan B because regarding our salvation there isn’t one. Jesus Christ was God’s plan of salvation all along and no one else is coming to save us as the writer of Hebrews reminds us, “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds” (Hebrews 1:1-2). In other word’s Jesus is God’s first and final word! Thank God today regarding our salvation that there is no plan B, and that Jesus is and always has been enough. Let's trust His plan!

I LOVE YOU!
