Give It All To Jesus

Are you aware that over half of those who seek counseling do so to get help dealing with issues of anger? I read an Instagram post that said, “I’m going to let God fix it because if I fix it I’m going to jail” and I laughed out loud for two reasons. First, I thought the statement was funny and second, I could relate. I recall an example one pastor I enjoy gave from his own life as to why we need to leave judgment to God when we are angry. To illustrate his point he said, “consider the television remote control. Imagine for a second it was the button to a nuclear bomb. A man can be holding that remote in his hand and it makes no difference if he is watching the news or sports. He can get so angry without a moments notice that he franticly starts hitting the button to change the channel because he can no longer bear what he sees demonstrating that human anger often times is an over reaction emotional response. It has been well said, “anger is the feeling that makes our mouths work faster than our brains.”

Because of our sin nature our first impulse often times is the wrong response and is why Ephesians 4:31-32 exhorts us to act, not react when we become angry, “Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” As along as we are alive we will have to deal with anger so we best learn how to deal with it properly. Anger and unforgiveness often times go hand in hand and is why we need to remember that “unforgivenenss is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.” The key to controlling our anger is to learn how to act instead of react, to let it go by giving it all to Jesus!

"Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

Psalm 50:15

I LOVE YOU!
