Look Up! Help Is On The Way!

Have you ever lost something and you know it’s not lost forever, you just can’t remember where you placed it? Often times the first question people ask is, “Where was the last place you remember seeing it?” I laugh because if I could remember that I’d have already found what was missing. Everything lost and then found is most often in the last place we had it, unless what you lost was the peace, safety and joy of the Lord. Jesus in Luke 19 is instructing His disciples of what to do when world suffers from great distress as the return of Jesus Christ at His Second Coming draws near. Jesus said in Luke 21:28, “So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!” It’s as if Jesus is instructing His disciples to look in the first place (look up), not the last place (look down) when something is lost and we are trying to find it.

Like most people, I can read the news and get this feeling that something is going on in this world like nothing we have seen before. Almost everywhere you look there is civil unrest, hopelessness, crime, injustice, hatred, anarchy, inflation, and supply shortages on a global scale. People wish that life would somehow get back to “normal” but according to the Bible, all these things must happen before the Lord returns. I saw a sign last week that put it into perspective for me, “Normal isn’t coming back, Jesus is!” That’s what Jesus is telling us. We don’t need to hope and pray that life would somehow get back to “normal,” what we need to do is look up to God and eagerly await Jesus glorious return to earth where He will establish His kingdom. Just think, when Jesus returns the whole earth will enjoy peace and quiet for a thousand years!

Jesus words serve as a great reminder for us that when we get this sense that everything in life that can go wrong is going wrong, we don’t need to panic but instead we are invited to pray, we don’t need to look down in despair, we should be looking up in anticipation! Jesus is right where He promised he would always be in the first place, “God reigns above the nations, sitting on his holy throne” (Psalm 47:8)

I LOVE YOU!
