You're A Genius!

It’s true, “Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny.” I saw a story on social media that speaks to this truth.  A father shares a true story with his teenage son about a kid who was failing out of high school and was about to drop out of school but promised his mom before he did he would take the SAT to see where he ranks. Amazingly, he ended up getting a 1480 out of 1600. When he gets the score His mother asks, “Did you cheat?” Her son tells his mom, “I tried to cheat but they make it so you can’t.” He realizes he is smart so he decides to go to class during his senior year and quits hanging around the crowd that he use to run with when he didn’t go to class. He graduates and goes to Community College and ends up being a massively successful magazine entrepreneur.

The dad stops and asks his son, “why do you think this guy was so successful?” The son responds, “he was always smart and he just needed a standardized test to show him?” The father responded, “no, thats not the story. Here is what I want you to understand. Twelve years after the test the SAT Board sent him a letter saying that the year he took the SAT that he was 1 out of 13 people who were sent the wrong score. His actual score was a 740 out of 1600. When the young man was told what happened he said, “people say my whole life changed when I got a 1480 on the SAT but the truth is my whole life changed when I started acting like I got a 1480.”

The Bible affirms again and again that what you and I think impacts the course our lives will take. Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” Romans 12:2 reminds us, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Remember this today, “What you think you can you can and what you think you can’t you can’t.”

I LOVE YOU!
