Knock Knock, It's No Joke

“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men”

John 1:4

There is no refuting that Jesus Christ changes everything. The apostle Paul put it like this in 1 Corinthians 15:12-19, “Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.”

Have you ever considered how the birth of Jesus is the center of our accounting of years through the ages? We divide our calendars into two parts, B.C. or “before Christ” and A.D. the Latin phrase “anno domini” which translated means “in the year of our Lord” or more commonly known as “after death”. Jesus Christ birth and death are how we account for life and for good reason as Jesus Himself said, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Jesus is the very reason the Gospel’s are called, “Good News” because the life of Jesus is good news for the entire world once you understand why He was born, and why He died and rose again.

How could one man who only lived for 33 years in a remote little village in a tiny country and never traveled more than 60 miles away from home in His entire life make such an impact on the world? Are you aware that more books have been written about Him than any other person who has ever lived? When Jesus walked the shores of the Sea of Galilee after He began His public ministry it is reported that the crowds following Him were near 50,000 people or more. What was it about Jesus that attracted people from all walks of life to want to be around Him and to listen to Him teach? In a single word it was “LIFE”. Wherever Jesus is there is life. As the apostle John wrote, “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men” (John 1:4).

The point is this, the resurrection of Jesus is about living not dying, about restoration not deterioration. When Jesus walked into a room 2000 years ago He brought life and He is still doing the same thing today. What are you waiting for? Answer the door of your own heart and let the son shine in!

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me”

Revelation 3:20
