I See You Everywhere

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

2 Corinthians 3:18

I remember a quote that reminded me of how I believe Jesus felt about His Heavenly Father as He went about His daily routine, “I know I am in love with you because I see the world in your eyes and your eyes everywhere in the world.” The apostle John put it like this, “Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will” (John 5:19-21).

Just like in the mystery of marriage where “two become one” the apostle Paul reminds us that we too are being changed, transformed into the very image of Christ as we come and behold Him. The word “behold” isn’t used much any more and yet it holds such wonderful imagery as it means, “To have in sight; to see clearly; to look at; to regard with the eyes. To direct the eyes to, or fix them upon, an object; to look; to see.” The more intently you study an object the more focused it becomes. And to think, we have an invitation from God Himself to come and behold Him, to look into the very face of God as it were when we behold Jesus and journey with Him. Maybe that is what the writer of Hebrews has in mind in Hebrews 12:2, “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…”

No one really “falls in love”. Love is a choice we make and the more you know someone the more capable you are of loving them. At least that is how it is with God. The more you study Him, the more aware you are of Him and His presence in your life and in this world, the more in love with Him you will become. In the same way our skin is tanned as we look to the sun, our new man is transformed as we look to the Son. Do you have a desire to experience more of God’s love in your own life? If so, look to Him, come and behold Him. Spend time with God today, in His Word and in prayer. Talk with God and walk with Him. Keep your eyes focused on Jesus and before you know it, you too will say, “I know I am in love with you because I see the world in your eyes and your eyes everywhere in the world.”

“His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire”

I LOVE YOU!
