The Power of Thanks
The Power of Thanks
“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)
Here’s something to consider as we go about our day, “What grumbling and complaining are to the devil praise is to God.” It’s been well said, “We worship the devil with our gossip, our backbiting, and complaining, as murmuring is the choir of hell.” If that is true then the opposite must be true as well, “Giving thanks in all things is the praise of heaven, directed by the Holy Spirit in the worship of God.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” How do we know we are on the right path today? The path you and I take today if the Lord is leading us is one that will be marked with thanksgiving and praise. How might we know that you might be thinking? Simply, scripture tells us that in His presence is the fulness of joy and at His right hand are pleasures ever more! We are invited then to enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.
Worship is the business of heaven. When we focus on God ours eyes are open to His majesty. We understand the longer we linger in His presence He is sovereign and everything and I mean everything was created by Him and for Him and nothing exists apart from Him. He has the whole world in His hand and when He speaks it is done. He is good all the time and has His glory and our well being in mind since before the creation of the world.
Look around today and count your blessings, consider the ways the Lord has provided, protected, and made His presence known to you. Look for Jesus in the midst of your circumstances today and appreciate afresh God is always near. Yes, loved one, we have so much to be thankful for today, maybe the most thankful that He who promised is faithful when He said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Yes, God has a will and you and I have a choice today. Choose to be thankful.
“And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.”
Colossians 3:17
