No Other Name

“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name”

Philippians 2:9

I am so thankful there is only one name you need to remember to gain access to God, the name of Jesus Christ. Many people may pray but those who call upon on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved. Have you ever really considered what it means in the bible about Jesus having a name that is above ALL names? I hope you have because in doing so it comes with tremendous benefits. When the apostle Paul was writing to the church in Philippi he was making it perfectly clear that Jesus, being God is above everything and everyone. Jesus is superior and because of his superiority anything and everyone will ultimately bow down to Him recognizing His authority and majesty. Philippians 2:9-11 puts it like this, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” This is how awesome Jesus is. Everything in heaven and on earth and even those things under the earth will ultimately bow down to Jesus and be subject to His Lordship.

So, why is that so important or what does that have to do with me and you, you might be thinking. When you and I choose to bow down to Jesus and worship Him for who He is we become subject to Him. He becomes our Master and we His servant. Then, because we have submitted our lives to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, anything and everything that has a name and seeks to exalt itself over us is subject to Jesus too. In other words, since Jesus is responsible for us, whatever might seek to exalt itself over us is now subject to Him. Jesus has the final say.

What is it today that is seeking to ruin your day? What struggle, what sin, what habit, what thought is trying to take you captive today? Remember, every name is subject to Jesus. That means fear is subject to Jesus, worry is subject to Jesus, doubt is subject to Jesus. You name it, if it has a name it is subject to Jesus. Sickness and disease are subject to Jesus as are uncertainty and pain, grief and loneliness. Every name we can think of is subject to Jesus which is why we are free in Jesus! Bring every name to God in prayer that seeks to control your life and experience the emancipation proclamation of the Gospel that gives each of us reason to celebrate today since it was Jesus Himself who promised…

“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”

John 8:36

I LOVE YOU!
