The Secret To Being Thankful
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
Colossians 3:16
Perspective is everything in life. Have you noticed that some people always seem to be happy no matter what is going on in the world? Are they oblivious to what is happening or do they know something that we don’t know or maybe we have forgotten? Take the word enthusiasm. It comes from two Greek words, “en” where we get our English word “in” and the word “theos” where we get our English word “theology” which means “the study of God.” Translated that means enthusiasm is experienced by those who are found “in God.”
Its no wonder that the apostle Paul would write in Colossians 3:15-17, “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
If there were a secret to being thankful it’s easily found in knowing God. Seeing life from God’s point of view makes happiness and thankfulness possible as the more one comes to know God personally and those who rightly divide His Word, the more thankful we naturally will become. If you want more happiness in life and have a desire to be more expressive in giving thanks just spend more time hanging out with God and sharing what you discover about Him with others. When we realize how good God is and what He has done for us in sending Jesus into this world we can’t help but be more thankful and more enthusiastic about life. So don’t worry, be happy and be thankful today knowing though the world may be falling apart as believers we know what’s really happening is everything is falling into place, thank God!
