This Is The Day

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

Today might not be your birthday or any national day of celebration for you but you do have reason to rejoice today, a reason to be happy and sing. Let me ask you a question. Have you ever thought about why you were born? I don’t mean into your family as usually that is pretty easy. Your parents wanted a family and they decided to have you. What I am thinking about today is why each of us was born from God’s perspective since the word of God makes clear in Colossians 1, “everything that exists was created by God and for God and nothing exits apart from Him.” Today has tremendous meaning and purpose. I like the quote I read that says, “If you are still here then God’s not done” with regard to being alive today. It’s been said we are immortal until the day God’s purpose this side of heaven is complete. So, all that to say is if you are reading this then there is a reason for your being and for that we should pray and give God thanks today.

I read this quote this morning that might just help each of us in discovering God’s will for our lives today. It said, “Prayer is not about convincing God to do our bidding. But allowing Him to move us to the place where we’re willing to do His.” I needed to hear that. We do well to remember that this is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. You might be thinking as you are reading this, “but you don’t understand my circumstances” and it’s true. But what I Do know is that God does and that in whatever circumstance you find yourself in God has called you and me to give Him thanks. And the reason we are to give thanks is because God is in whatever circumstance we find ourselves in is if you are a child of God there is no escaping God’s presence and God knows where His presence is His peace is readily available to us as is His comfort and joy in abundant supply. Thank God!

Keep this in mind today. Every person who is in Christ has value and worth. You have talents and skills, something to both bless and benefit the world placed there by God. You don’t have to even know what your gift is per se nor understand what your purpose is, but what you do need to believe and trust each day is that God does know what He is up too and that He is at work in you to compete what He has first begun. And since you are still here, God’s not finished. So be patient as you wait just as James 1:4 reminds us, “But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” When God gets done you will like what you see, so trust Him, thank Him and enjoy Him as you sing…

“this is the day, this is the day, that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made, I will rejoice, I will rejoice and be glad in it, and be glad in it…”

Psalm 118:24

I LOVE YOU!
