Make Your Presence Felt

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."

Matthew 5:16

As my wife and I walked in the dark with our kids and grand kids last night Jesus words played in my hand along with a famous quote by Leonard Ravenhill, a noted revivalist who once wrote, “You never have to advertise a fire.” Literally tens of thousands of people if not more have come from all around the world to this light exhibit by internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Munro who’s light display comprises more than 58,800 stemmed spheres lit by fiber optics that gently illuminate the landscape in subtle blooms of morphing color that describe the undulating landscape. Its a beautiful display of light that the Guardian newspaper noted, “This is art you feel rather than art you view.”

I think that quote by the Guardian is what Jesus has in mind when He says of you and me as His followers to “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” More than just see us, Jesus has saved us and set us apart to make our presence felt in this world. That reminds me of something I just recently wrote down while preparing for a memorial service, “Our fingerprints don’t fade from the hearts we have touched.”

The point is, there are all kinds of different lights with a verity of purposes. The light Jesus refers to when He speaks of you and me today, loved one, is this. His light within us is more than just to illuminate a way. John 1:4 reminds us, “In Him (Jesus) was life, and the life was the light of men. Yes, loved one, some light illuminates while other light provides warmth, it can be felt as easily as it can be seen. Thats the light Jesus is referring. Light that transforms from glory to glory.

Walk in such a way today that your love for Jesus is not just seen but that it is felt. Make your presence known. Better still, make Jesus presence known as you leave your fingerprints on the hearts of those you touch.

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails

1 Corinthians 13:4–8

I LOVE YOU!
