Difference Makers

“Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eye service, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart”

Ephesians 6:5-6

Here is a great thought as you start your day, “Serve with your hands and you make something better. Serve with your whole heart and you make a difference.” So true! It has been well said, “If you love what you do you’ll never work another day in your life.” There is something that stands out when we put our whole heart into whatever we do. I guess that’s why it makes so much sense that Jesus calls for us to love Him with all of our heart, all of our soul and all of our strength as God knows when we do we’ll not only make the world a better place, we will make a difference!

Today you and I will have many opportunities before us to serve God by serving others. We can simply use our hands and make something better or we can choose to pour our whole heart into what we do and make a difference. The bible makes it clear we are not saved by our good works, we were created for good works (Ephesians 2:10). Making things better is always good but making a difference is always better because when make a difference we do so with eternity in mind. Making things better is often times focused on today where as making a difference is focused on forever.

Our works merely reveal where are treasure and our heart is focused in this life. My dad always told me growing up, “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well” and then he would explain that the best way to do something well is to do it with all of your heart. Like you, I have learned that when I put my whole heart into something I don’t ever live with regret. Like you, I want to be a difference maker!

Let me encourage you to put your heart into today, make a difference knowing that when you do you leave a lasting impression in the lives of those you touch as nothing stands out more in our own mind than when someone does something for us from the depth of their soul and with all their heart. Isn’t that why the Cross of Christ is so powerful? It is very clear as we look at the Cross where Jesus suffered and died that held nothing back when He gave His life for the sins of the world on Calvary’s Cross. Jesus gave His all for you and me with all His heart, and what a difference His atoning sacrifice has made for all eternity for those who would turn from their sin and trust in Him. Like Jesus, be a difference maker today for the glory of God and for the good of the world we live.  



“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him… And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men”

Colossians 3:17, 23
