Living In These Last Days

“and there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.”

Luke 21:11

In my curiosity I have learned a lot as I have sat these past few months and watched and listened to what many of you are seeing with your own eyes too. The very things the Bible warns us that will happen in the last days are happening right before our very eyes. As Jesus lays out the warnings of the events that will take place in “the last days” he also reminds us of something very important as well. In the gospel of John, (John 16:33) Jesus says, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." That is important to keep in mind each day as we watch the events of these last days unfolding right before our very eyes.

It was in Luke’s gospel, (Luke 21:28) that Jesus said, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” Jesus doesn’t want us to be caught off guard or taken by surprise, nor does he want us to become disillusioned or depressed. Jesus wants His bride to understand the times and be ready for Him when He comes for her in the clouds and to live with anticipation. The apostle Paul gives us a detailed list of what life will be like before Jesus returns in a letter he wrote to a young pastor named Timothy. Read the following examples and decide for yourself if they describe what is happening in the world today, and if in fact we are living in the “last days.”

People will be lovers of themselves (2 Timothy 3:2)
People will be covetous (2 Timothy 3:2)
People will be boasters (2 Timothy 3:2)
People will be proud. (2 Timothy 3:2)
People will be blasphemers (2 Timothy 3:2)
People will be disobedient to parents (2 Timothy 3:2)
People will be unthankful (2 Timothy 3:2)
People will consider nothing as sacred (2 Timothy 3:2)
People will be unloving (2 Timothy 3:3)
People will be unforgiving (2 Timothy 3:3)
People will slander others (2 Timothy 3:3)
People will have no self-control (2 Timothy 3:3)
People will be unusually cruel (2 Timothy 3:3)
People will have no interest in what is good (2 Timothy 3:3)
People will betray friends (2 Timothy 3:4)
People will be reckless (2 Timothy 3:4)
People will be puffed up with pride (2 Timothy 3:4)
People will be lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God (2 Timothy 3:4)
People will have a form of godliness but deny God (2 Timothy 3:5)
People will take advantage of women, weakened by sin (2 Timothy 3:6)
People will always been learning but not coming to knowledge of truth (2 Timothy 3:7)
People will resist the truth (2 Timothy 3:8)
People will have corrupt minds (2 Timothy 3:8)
People will have a fake faith from a depraved mind (2 Timothy 3:8)
People will not progress in fake faith and fail miserably (2 Timothy 3:9)

If you read that list and thought, that describes perfectly the events taking place in the world today and you are asking, “what do I do?” Do exactly what Jesus instructed us to do, look up! Don’t live in fear, choose to  live by faith in the One who loved you and gave His life for you! Keep your eyes on Jesus and keep looking to the clouds for He is coming sooner than later!

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

John 14:1-3

I LOVE YOU!
