Exercises To Avoid

“He must increase, but I must decrease”

John 3:30

The bible has much to say about our health, our physical, spiritual, and emotional health. Ever since COVID-19 began to span the globe and people were isolated for the good part of a year a lot of commercials began popping up for diet, weight loss and exercise. Most just offer short term solutions to deeper problems and many are scams attempting to get you to waste that stimulus check you received from the Federal Government. Don’t forget that diet and weight loss business is a multi billion dollar industry.

I was reading some news feeds and one caught my eye that said, “15 EXERCISES WE'D BE BETTER OFF WITHOUT” and I confess, that got my attention. In a world that is constantly calling us to do more, it appealed to me to read something regarding exercise that actually called for less, lol. Below is a list of exercises the writer suggested we would be better off without and I couldn’t agree more.

Join with me and make it your goal to NOT do these exercises listed below.

Jumping on the bandwagon
Wading through paperwork
Running around in circles
Pushing your luck
Spinning your wheels
Adding fuel to the fire
Beating your head against the wall
Climbing the walls
Beating your own drum
Dragging your heels
Jumping to conclusions
Grasping at straws
Fishing for compliments
Throwing your weight around
Passing the buck

Obviously the list above was written tongue in cheek for fun but it does offer much proverbial wisdom. There are many things in our lives each of us could use less of if not completely eliminating them all together. Can you think of anything or can you relate to the entire list above? Whatever it might be just know, loved one, you can bring those things that are weighing you down or habits that are impossible for you to break to Jesus and leave them with Him. He is faithful, He is helpful.

All Kidding aside, the Lord’s invitation to us today is to exercise our faith and to cast all of our cares upon Him because He cares about us! So, go ahead loved one, work out your own salvation today and take that first giant step into getting into the best spiritual shape of your life. Focus more on laying things down than on lifting them up. Remember, in the Lord, decreasing always leads to increasing. Letting go is how we take hold of what God has for us.

“For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.”

1 Timothy 4:8

I LOVE YOU!
