If Your Life Was A Movie

“My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.”

Psalm 45:1

Have you ever considered what is the leitmotif of your life? In other words what is your life’s theme? I enjoy a good action movie or a love story and I’m thankful when I search on Netflix for a movie to watch they are all categorized by their leitmotif you could say, by their theme. If people were to look at your life and mine today and had to categorize us like a movie where would your life fall? Would you be considered “drama in real life” or an “action movie”? Maybe your life would be “suspenseful” or hopefully a “love story”. You get the point.

Most likely, the movie theme that would best describe us would be determined by what each of us are planting day in and day out. In Psalm 45:1 the writer declares that his heart is overflowing with a good theme, a good leitmotif, but why? What causes the heart to overflow with a good theme one might ask? Have you ever heard the expression, “garbage in garbage out?” The only way for our hearts to overflow with good things is for our hearts to first be filled with good things.

Where do we get good things to fill our hearts overflowing with a good theme? Jesus answered that question Himself when He said in John 7:38, “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” Just like in psalm 45, a good theme comes from good thoughts and good thoughts come from focusing our thoughts on the one who loves us like no other. When we consider the goodness of God, who He is and all that He has done for us and on our behalf how can our hearts not be overflowing with a good leitmotif?

Do you desire to have a good leitmotif for your day, for your week and for your year? If so, focus; focus on the goodness of God each day, looking for Him in every situation and circumstance you find yourself in. When you feel overwhelmed and the darkness seems to be setting in all around you and you can’t trace the hand of God any longer, trust His heart, for God is good all the time. Seek the Lord and sing His praises, recite His promises, make known His deeds and declare His Word. It’s really that simple. The more we fill our lives with God, the more of God will flow from our lives. Like the old saying, “Jesus in Jesus out!” And the best part is, like in any really good love story movie, we live happily ever after!

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”

Philippians 4:8-9

I LOVE YOU!
