Spiritual Snorkeling

“Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.”

Psalm 119:18

Enjoying a day of snorkeling with my wife yesterday I was reminded that there is a whole other world around us that many do not see. With goggles and a snorkel we were able to see more of God’s amazing creation below the surface of the water. Fish with vibrant colors and dozens of different verities. Sea turtles swimming right next to us, coral reefs full of plant and marine life, beauty everywhere the eye could see. The Lord reminded me as we swam that there is a spirit world around us that is every bit as beautiful as what I can see with my natural eye. It’s why we are called to walk by faith and not by sight.

The Lord also reminded me as well that if we are going through life so fast we will never enjoy the millions of little things God has created and placed in our paths for His glory and our pleasure each day. Vacations are time to relax and be refreshed and to reconnect with God and one another. At least that is how it is for my wife and I. Just like in Jesus earthly ministry, some of the best conversations, even the most meaningful conversations happened on the highways and by ways as Jesus and His disciples were somewhere between point A and point B.

We don’t have to wait for a vacation to see the beauty of God’s creation all around us. Go snorkeling in the spirit world today by diving into the word of God and prayer, inviting the Lord to give you eyes to see and ears to hear what the Spirit is doing today. Ask God to heal us of our blindness, to touch our eyes so we can see all that He has for us. We don’t have to be on vacation to slow the pace and take time to devote ourselves to God, to connect and reconnect with Him and be refreshed. It’s like a mini vacation at home. There is beauty all around us in the spirit world. Listen to the words of Jeremiah the prophet and take his words to heart today and see for yourself…

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”

Jeremiah 33:3

I LOVE YOU!
