There When You Need Him

Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

Psalm 50:15

Can you remember the last time you really needed God; I mean REALLY needed God? Often times we fail to recognize our need for God as long our lives are agreeable to us. We tend to prefer to call the shots as long as the shots are producing the results we hope for. Most of us tend to recognize our need for Jesus when the bottom falls out, when the results we hoped for go unrealized. It was Saint Augustine who once said, “God wants to give us something, but cannot because our hands are full”. It has also been said, “God only pours His grace into empty vessels”. How true that is.

Here is something that is both comforting and troubling at the same time. To think, God is always there for us when we need Him and He is there even when we (think) we don’t. Good news is God is always there, sad that He often goes unnoticed too long, and yet, when we finally get fed up, disappointed or disillusioned as it were and come to God He graciously receives us to Himself. Have you ever considered on what you missed out on along the way? How many blessings could have been ours if we only we had walked with Jesus, how much hurt and heartache might have we avoided?

C.S. Lewis wrote in his book “the problem of pain” that “If God were proud He would hardly have us on such terms: but He is not proud, He stoops to conquer, He will have us even though we have shown that we prefer everything else to Him, and come to Him because there is nothing better now to be had.” We serve an amazing God, loved one, who patiently, graciously, and loving waits for us to turn our hearts over to Him. Love doesn’t force, loved desires. I want to encourage you to turn your heart over to the Lord first thing each and every day and not to wait for your heart to be broken before you surrender to God. It was Jesus who said, “I desire obedience more than sacrifice.” Like any true love relationship, it’s all or nothing. Halfheartedness just wont do.

Yes, friend, Jesus receives us all when we come with our happy heart as well as our broken heart because He wants all of us, good and bad, hard and easy. Don’t miss out on God and the fellowship we can enjoy with Him today. Don’t wait until your pain drives you to Jesus, come to Him when the going is good. God loves to lead His children around the pitfalls of life and straight into the Promised Land. The life of faith is one that says I trust you Jesus to lead me and guide me. Following Jesus will keep us on our knees recognizing our need for Him all the time.

The closer you walk with God the better you will know Him and understand His ways. The best part of all from walking with Jesus is coming to realize that, “in His presence is the fullness of joy.” Not just joy, loved one, but the fullness of joy. Why wait then, why waste time looking anywhere else when our hearts desires are satisfied in Jesus! Yes, loved one, Jesus is there when you need Him and even when you think you don’t. Why, plain and simple, God is good, all the time!

“You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame.”

Joel 2:26

I LOVE YOU!
