Like A Walk In The Park

“… I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

John 14:2–3

It’s been well said, “Lovers don’t take walks to get somewhere, they take walks to be together.” When lovers walk its never about reaching a destination, it’s simply to satisfy a desire, a passion. When God created Adam and Eve the Bible says He placed them in a Garden that He planted east of Eden and would come to where they were in the cool of the day. The book of Colossians reminds us we were created by God and for God. In other words God created us to enjoy us, to be with us and we with Him.

On the night of Jesus betrayal before going to the Cross He enjoyed what is called the Last Supper with His disciples. He explained to them that He was leaving for a period of time, going away to prepare a place for them (and us) so that one day we could be with Him (forever). Have you ever thought about how much God loves you? I mean really thought about it? He loves you so much He wants to spend eternity with you. Now Thats love.

We call the Christian life often times “a walk” which signifies a non hurried pace, a journey that isn’t measured so much by distance but rather by time. A walk with God is meant to be refreshing, to be shared and enjoyed together. There is an old saying regarding the creation of woman for man that goes like this, “Woman wasn’t taken from mans head to rule over him, nor from his feet to be trampled upon. Woman was taken from mans side forever close to his heart.” The book of Amos reminds us, “how can two walk together unless they agree.” Take a walk with God today.

Remember, God created you for Himself, not to accomplish something for Him but to simply enjoy Him and He you. Don’t get ahead of God nor lag behind but rather walk closely with Jesus by your side. Listen for His voice, be aware of His presence, experience His peace and know His joy as you anticipate His glorious return for you one day!

“Draw me away!”

I LOVE YOU!
