A Common Enemy

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Ephesians 6:12

We know from studying the Bible there is power in unity, so much so that wherever God finds it He blesses the efforts of those who practice it. Many athletic competitions have been won by the weaker team for the simple fact that the team was bound together as one. It’s like poetry in motion when you find a marriage, a family, a business, an athletic team and especially a church that are unified.

War has a way like nothing else to bind people together. Call it national unity or pride, war forces a Lazer like focus on the objective due to life and death situations soldiers find themselves in. Maybe thats why churches that are focused on outreach and evangelism have a greater sense of unity than those who just attend church. The mission field is a battle field that unites the body of Christ like no other activity of the church as its on the mission field where we recognize the forces of evil we are up against and our objective becomes so clear. There is just not enough time to get caught up in petty bickering and technique debates when you are in the middle of a war. Soldiers understand full well that locking arms, working together and setting their sights on the goal of the prize is what leads to victory.

Jesus, our Commander in Chief and Captan of the Lord’s army came and lived and died and rose again to secure the victory for us. Jesus has purchased back by His shed blood that which was held captive. As followers of Christ we have been set free and yet we still remain behind enemy lines. We have a mission, we have a strategy that calls for us to stand our ground, to recognize the enemy of our soul and to work together to set the remaining captives free.

If you desire a greater sense of purpose in your life, enlist. Join in the battle as a member of the Lord’s army. Experience victory today as you put on the full armor of God and hold your ground. Don’t relinquish anything to the evil one. Lock arms with those who are seeking to reach the lost with the saving knowledge of Christ. Live your life for a cause greater than yourself. Experience Gods peace and joy that is the result of genuine unity, the benefit of God’s commanding His blessing on you.

“When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. So it shall be, when you are on the verge of battle”

Deuteronomy 20:1–2
