Hidden In Plain Sight

"The glory of God is to conceal a thing, but the honor of kings is to search out a matter."

Proverbs 25:2

Have you ever been searching for something that was right in front of you. As embarrassing as it might be, I have looked for my sunglasses while I was wearing them or my car keys which were right in my hand. The point is, there are things in front of us that seem to be hidden in plain sight. Every once in a while I will run across a puzzle that has a word or image hidden in it and the goal is to see how quickly you can find it. I feel elated when I finally discover the word or image that was seemingly hidden in plain sight, right there all along. I think thats what made the “Where’s Waldo” books so popular. Even adults would get excited when they finally found Waldo.

The Bible makes clear that God is in everything which means He is often hidden in plain sight. Colossians 1:16-17 says plainly, “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.” Imagine the joy that is ours today when we find God who is hidden in plain sight. If you and I will look close we will find God is there. Thats why we are exhorted in scripture to seek after God with all of our heart for when we do we will find God when we seek Him with all our heart.

I love those heart warming video’s on social media where a soldier returns home and surprises a family member or friend who they have been separated for a long period of time and the person wanting to surprise the other is hiding in plain sight. Often times the person is standing right next to them completely unnoticed. Oh, the joy we all get in watching the moment when the reunion takes place, when the loved one comes out of hiding and makes themselves known. The looks, the shouts of praise, the tears of joy that flow upon discovery can be ours too every time we discover the God who is hidden in plain sight.

Our God is the God of revelation and there is nothing He enjoys more than is making Himself known to us. God is wanting you and I to discover Him today knowing that it’s in His presence where we will find the fullness of joy. Be on the lookout today and search for God in the people you encounter, and look for Him in the places you travel,  keep your eyes open everywhere you go. Search for Him in all that you do because He is there hiding in plain sight just waiting for you!

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.”

Psalm 139:7–10

I LOVE YOU!
