One Hour Could Change Your World
“Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Matthew 26:40–41
I was reading in the gospel of Matthew the other day as I was just thumbing through my bible and my eyes caught the sentence where Jesus said, “What! Could you not watch with Me for one hour?” I read it a few times and it was as if the Lord was wanting me to glean something from it I had not previously considered.
I felt as if the Lord was whispering to me, “If you would just dedicate 1 hour a day to whatever it is that you commit to do it will change your life.” I thought about that all day and would think of different scenarios. What would happen if I dedicated one hour each day to uninterrupted prayer? How about one hour in the Word of God? How different would my life be if I made sure I spent one hour sharing Jesus with people each day? What if I just spent an hour donating my time to some ministry or cause? Would my life be different? I believe so and so would yours. What if I spent an hour exercising every day like I use to a few years back? I am certain I would feel healthier and my clothes would fit better too. Yep, it seems like no matter what I would do, if I just dedicated one hour to it each day my life would be most certainly changed for the better. How about you?
Is there an area of your life you sense the Lord calling you to change? Think about it today and remember, “It’s not what we do occasionally that makes a difference it’s what we do consistently.” Try it for one week and then reach out to me at mike@ccbakersfield.com and let me know. I am believing just one week, one hour a day which adds up to seven hours for the week is enough to convince your heart and mind that its worth it. Paul the apostle makes it clear in Galatians 6 that If you don’t like what you are reaping then change what you are sowing.
One hour could change your world. Pray for me, I am praying for you! Don’t forget that you can accomplish a lot after you pray but you can’t accomplish anything until you do pray. Start there and see where that leads you. And don’t forget to let me know.
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”
Galatians 6:7–8
