God Works For You But Not For You

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”

John 14:12

Jesus isn’t looking for employees to work for Him, He is looking for partners to work with Him. Having a personal relationship with God doesn’t make life easy, it makes it meaningful. The apostle Paul writes from personal experience, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” What Paul didn’t mean was that we can do whatever we want, it means you and I can accomplish everything God calls us to do. Often times in life we become frustrated when we can’t seem accomplish the things we set out to do even though we might have prayed about it before attempting whatever it was that we hoped to do. We do well to remember, God works for us, on our behalf, but He doesn’t work for you.

Faith and works have always been a point of contention in religious circles. There are many around the world today who believe that in order to be saved from eternal hell we must do good works as a means to an end, and that end being heaven one day. While yet there is another camp that believes we are saved by God’s grace through faith by the good work He has performed for us in Christ on Calvary’s Cross. One believes that our works are a means to an end and the other believes God’s work is the means to our end and our own good works are simply the evidence of our salvation. In either case works play a major role in our relationship to God. One person works in hope of reaching God while the other works as evidence that they have already reached God.

God works for us making a way for us to come to Him. God is constantly working to remove the barriers that keep us from Him, the roadblocks and distractions that the enemy of our soul places in front of us constantly. Don’t let the world distract you today from the ultimate purpose of your life. We exist for God and His good pleasure and the ultimate purpose in our lives is to know God, and to know Him in any and every situation and circumstance we encounter. Because of Jesus you and I can face anything that presents itself today with confidence and assurance of heart because we are not alone. God is with us, working on our behalf making it possible for us to work with Him. The best way to enjoy a fulfilling day is to partner with Jesus!

“But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”

James 2:18

I LOVE YOU!
