Living The Dream

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

Proverbs 4:23 (NLT2)

I always laugh when I ask someone how they are doing in the midst of this COVID pandemic and they respond sarcastically with a smile on their face, “I’m living the dream.” I get it. Who would have thought 2020 would turn out the way it has? But, it is what it is. Have you discovered that the longer the COVID-19 virus disrupts our day to day lives the more stressed we can easily become? It seems fatigue is becoming more and more commonplace in our lives than ever before and it’s completely understandable. Productivity is all about energy management, and when we are stressed, fatigue naturally sets in and our productivity begins to wain. Just ask someone who is suffering from depression. They will often times explain how they are feeling by saying something like, “I just don’t have an energy. I could sleep all day long.” So what do we do? How do we coupe with the stress that seems to be spreading faster than the COVID-19 virus itself.

The best way to stay energized is heed the council the wisest man to walk the earth in the Old Testament who sought to encourage his own son when he instructed him to guard his heart with all diligence. In other words this wise dad was telling his son to monitor very closely what you are allowing in your life. Don’t allow negative thoughts, feelings and emotions to get the best of you by stealing your valuable headspace. Keep in mind that inspiration is the birthplace of motivation. When we have a positive outlook on life we look forward to the day. Have you ever met someone who took up a new hobby or sport or interest? They seem to have a renewed energy and purpose.

Solomon understood that the most powerful motivator is the human heart. We don’t need an energy drink to get us going each day or to pick us up in the late afternoon. There is no pill that works as well as our hearts on fire with passion to motivate and energize us each day. Guard your heart and watch how your energy begins to soar. Just like there is only 24 hours in a day, there is only so much energy any of us has to use each day. We are like a battery that needs to be recharged for optimum performance. Don’t waste your energy on negative thoughts or negative people that just sap your energy. Instead, draw close to God, the source of unlimited power by thinking on His Word and allow it to energize your thought process so that when people ask you “how’s it going?” You can say without any sarcasm at all, “I’m living the dream” because…

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Hebrews 4:12

I LOVE YOU!
