Room To Grow
Room To Grow
“For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.”
1 Corinthians 13:12
Listening to an interview yesterday regarding the Coronavirus the doctor exclaimed,“We don’t know everything about anything” in frustration to the belief that we some how need to know everything about the virus before we can open up businesses and allow children to go back to school. I appreciated his statements that we can't live our lives in fear though his intention had nothing to do with the Christian faith. Like you, I seek to filter everything through the Word of God, and like I said, though it wasn't his intent, knowing its ok to not know everything about anything, I was encouraged in my faith and I pray you are too.
The apostle John writes in two separate places in his gospel account about not everything that could be known about Jesus is known when he wrote, “And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name” (John 20:30-31). In the very next chapter John went on to write, “And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen” (John 21:25). The point is, we have room to grow!
We will never know this side of heaven everything about anything but we can grow and know more than we do today. The goal of life with regard to our relationship with Jesus is to keep growing as growing leads to knowing God which is the ultimate experience in life Jesus declares in John 17. When I gave my life to the Lord there was a band called, “2nd Chapter of Acts” and the lead singer Matthew West sang a beautiful song titled, “Knowing You.” The lyrics are below. Read them for yourself and join me in making them the prayer and declaration of your own heart today. Keep growing!
Knowing You
Matthew West
All I once held dear, built my life upon
All this world reveres, and wars to own
All I once thought gain I have counted loss
Spent and worthless now, compared to this
Knowing you, Jesus
Knowing you, there is no greater thing
You're my all, you're the best
You're my joy, my righteousness
And I love you, Lord
Now my heart's desire is to know you more
To be found in you and known as yours
To possess by faith what I could not earn
All-surpassing gift of righteousness
Knowing you, Jesus
Knowing you, there is no greater thing
You're my all, you're the best
You're my joy, my righteousness
And I love you, Lord
Oh, to know the power of your risen life
And to know You in Your sufferings
To become like you in your death, my Lord
So with you to live and never die
Knowing you, Jesus
Knowing you, there is no greater thing
You're my all, you're the best!
You're my joy, my righteousness!
You're my all, you're the best!
You're my joy, my righteousness!
You're my all, you're the best!
You're my joy, my righteousness!
And I love you, Lord
And I love you, Lord
And I love you, Lord
“Finally, grow strong in the Lord, with the strength of his power.”
Ephesians 6:10 (NJB)
