New Beginnings

“Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”

Isaiah 43:19

God majors in making all things new. Consider these passages of Scripture today, 1 Peter 1:3 which teaches us, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” Or how about 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Revelation 21:4-5 reminds us, “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."

The point is this, every morning is a new day, a chance to start afresh. Even the mercies of God are new every morning! We don’t have to try to hide from our past or waste time trying to tear it down or replace it when we can simply begin anew. The beauty of confession and repentance is with it comes release from the past, forgiveness and the joy of knowing that though the past does come with consequences, God’s judgment isn’t one of them as our past doesn’t have to define us. In Christ we aren’t who we once were, we are becoming who we shall be as He who has begun a good work in you will complete it one day. We all have said in one way or another, “if I only knew then what I know now” which is to say if I could go back and change whatever it is that comes to our mind regarding our past, we would without hesitation go back and change it. Unfortunately the past is what it is. We can’t change it but we can grow and learn from it. One thing for sure, we all learn to appreciate Gods grace all the more because “those who love much have been forgiven much.”

Is there something in your past you wish you could change today? Is there some sin you committed or memory of it that you just can’t seem to get past? Bring it to God and find forgiveness today, loved one, look to Jesus and trust Him who is capable of making all things new. Nothing is too difficult for our God. Remember, the Cross of Jesus is all about new beginnings, having our sins washed away and being made new. Jesus shed blood does it all for us. Our past is forgiven, our present is manageable and our future is secure all because of the Cross of Christ. Your slate is clean today, live free with the understanding that none of us has been this way before which is to say, the possibilities are endless!

“But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”

Ephesians 4:20-24

I LOVE YOU!
