To Grope Is Dope

“And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings”

Acts 17:26

I have some encouraging news for you today no matter if you are young or old. God knew exactly what He was getting when He got me and you. The prince of preachers, Charles Spurgeon once said, ”It is a good thing God chose me before I was born, because he surely would not have afterwards." Though we might feel that way, it’s not true as God has loved us with an everlasting love. There is no need to worry if you have received Christ as your personal Savior and Lord. Long before you chose God, God chose you, and His plan includes you.

Think about this today. For anyone to know us, and the things that make us happy or sad, or mad they would need to observe us. But not God, being God, He knew everything about us even before we were born. He knew who our parents would be just as He understood our thoughts and feelings in advance of our taking our first breath. Why is that important to know? Acts 17:27 tells us the purpose of our existence, “so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.” To ‘grope’ for God is to reach out for Him, and the word ‘dope’ in this usage means, “excellent.” So it’s safe to say, “to grope is dope!”

So now we know that whatever is happening in this life (even the coronavirus) God is using to draw us to Himself. Consider what the prophet declares in Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations." And you thought you decided what career you were going into. Have you ever thought that it was God who shaped you to be who you are, for the job you would do. Would it make any difference if you and I woke up each day knowing God placed us in the work we are doing for His glory? Absolutely it would knowing our lives are significant to the kingdom of God.

You are who you are because God made you the way you are. There is nobody like you? You were born an original, so don’t die a copy of someone else. Remember the words of the apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” That means you are a forethought with God and not an after thought. God is in control, none of this is an accident so keep reaching out to Him.

“But now, O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.”

Isaiah 64:8

I LOVE YOU!
