You're Never Alone

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

Psalm 23:4

Everyone deals with fear and one of the biggest fears that has been exposed during the coronavirus is the fear of being alone. Loneliness, yes, even in a crowded room a person can feel alone. It’s no surprise today then that a vast number of people are struggling with loneliness as they “shelter in place” at home during this global pandemic. Pretty much everyone experiences loneliness at some point in life, and in varying degrees. But the truth is, we are never alone. That’s good news today, loved one, you are not alone, God is there! David, the sweet psalmist of Israel whom God chose to be king wrote down the words to this Psalm as He came to know in his life what I pray today you know in yours too, “for You are with me.”

There is no more meaningful revelation, no greater comfort we can know in the darkest hours of our lives than, “You are with me.” You may feel alone today as you walk through your own valley of the shadow of death, but you mustn’t forget it’s only a shadow, overshadowed by the very presence of God. God is right there beside you today, inviting us to lean on Him. Allow God’s rod and staff comfort you on your journey. The word “rod” can refer to a couple of truths that bring us comfort. First, the rod often times refers to power and authority, a group of families with one father over them. Second, a rod is a stick to strike someone, to discipline them. A “staff” was a stick that you could lean and rest upon when your legs grow tired and weary.

Feelings are one thing and reality is another. Yes, we can and do and will at times feel all alone but the truth is God is with you! Even when we can’t feel Him or sense His presence, He is right there beside you every step of the way. Are you in need of comfort today? Are you dealing with the loneliness of isolation. You are not alone! Say these words out loud so you can hear yourself speaking, “You are with me.” In every place you find yourself today, and in every situation you face, take a deep breath and then say the words out loud, “You are with me” “You are with me” “You are with me,” I am not alone.” Its the truth that will set you free!

“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10

I LOVE YOU!
