Be What You Want Other's To Be

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”

Galatians 6:7

There is an old saying that goes like this, “I went to church looking to find a friend and found none. I went to church to be a friend and made many.” Jesus tells us the best way to minister to people is to simply treat them the way that we ourselves would want to be treated. It’s known as the “Golden Rule” and is found in Matthew 7:12, “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”

Often times in life we treat people they way that they treat us. We tend to respond to others actions where as Jesus tells His followers to take the initiative, to take the lead and not to follow. The apostle Paul who wrote the book of Romans admonishes us, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2). The world around us is wanting us to conform to its models and molds where the Bible makes clear God wants His children to shine, to stand out and not to blend in. We do well to remember that Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly, to know truth that would set us free. That can only happen as we follow Jesus and walk in His Word.

Be the change you want the world to see. You just might be the only the Bible the world ever reads. We will never change the world by simply going to church. We will only change the world by being the church going into the world. Never forget that one person really can make all the difference in the world. Jesus did as well as each of His disciples after He ascended back to heaven and you and I can be the change in the world today because “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

Seize the day, loved one. Don’t live your life in response to what is going on around you, take the initiative instead as you pray and read God’s Word. Plan your work and work your plan, keeping in mind that “prior proper prayerful planning prevents pitifully poor performance” because prayer never changes God but it always changes you and me! Let your love for God change the world. Don’t let the world ever change your love for God.” C.S. Lewis said it best, “If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next.”

"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.”

Matthew 7:24-25

I LOVE YOU!
