Party Time

“This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Psalm 118:24

God has obviously hard wired us for rejoicing. You might say it’s in our DNA to celebrate. Most everyone enjoys a good party! As Christians we just celebrated the birth of our Savior into this world in December. On New Years Eve, millions of people around the world celebrated a brand New Year along with a new decade. Over the holidays I saw a lot of birthday celebrations posted on social media in the month of December. Heck, I think I even saw a couple people celebrating their pets 4 or 6 month anniversary of being born. You name it people pretty much celebrate it.

Some might be opposed to all these celebrations but I for one believe that they are merely a reflection of God’s heart for us and the heart He has placed within us. Zephaniah 3:17 reminds us, “The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." Can you recall the last time you were even aware that God rejoices over you, that He celebrates you? He does!

Jesus told His disciples in Luke 15:7, “I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.” Heaven loves to celebrate too and there is no greater celebration than when a sinner comes to see the error of their way and turns from their sin to God. God loves to celebrate people, He loves to celebrate me and you!

Since Jesus was born to die on Calvary’s Cross, the greatest celebration we can know is the celebration of our being Born Again. God receives no greater honor than when people call upon the name of the Lord to be saved from their sins. Every time we turn from sin and walk with God and His will there’s reason to celebrate in heaven an opportunity to throw a party in your name! All the more reason to know Jesus and make Him known.

Yes, loved one, God Himself loves a celebration. Be it a wedding feast, a birthday party, the forgiving of someones sin. The possibilities are limitless. Just don’t forget, the Lord loves most when He is rejoicing over you!

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.”

Psalm 28:7

I LOVE YOU!
