You're Living An Adventure

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

2 Corinthians 5:7

Have you ever been blindfolded and had to get your directions only by verbal commands? If you don’t know or trust the voice giving you directions it can be stressful at best. Your life in God is a lot like being blindfolded, it’s an adventure that might excite some while causing others trepidation for the simple fact, “There is no map to take you where God wants to lead you.” Gods Word is not a road map for life. His Word merely illuminates the path we are on as Psalm 119:105 reminds us, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” The Christian life has always been and will always be one of faith, lived out day by day trusting in the faithfulness of God as we seek to walk with Him.

If your life and mine went according to our plan it would fall short of the glorious plan the Lord has for each of us. Few people I know would choose pain as a destination stop along the road to heaven but the truth be told, pain plays a major role in transforming us in ways pleasure never could. It was C.S. Lewis who wrote, “God whispers to us in our pleasures and He shouts to us in our pain. Pain is God’s mega phone to rouse a deaf world.”

Some of the most satisfying moments of our lives have come when we stretched beyond our comfort zone, and challenged beyond what we thought we were capable. In John 10:10 Jesus tells us that He came that we might have life and life more abundantly.” If there is one thing that kills our hopes and dreams faster than anything else, it’s fear. Maybe it is the fear of failure, or the fear of disappointment or dissatisfaction that reaching your destination and achieving our goals cant provide. The only sure way to enjoy the journey is to travel by faith and leave the destination to Jesus. I like the old saying that goes, “the destination is secure so enjoy the journey.”

Just like Abraham, God made a promise of the end result of where Abraham would eventually end up. That was the sure part. The unknown part was how would God get him there and what would happen along the way. Today you might be thinking the same thing. My advice, enjoy the journey, remembering life was created to be an adventure. If you are bored today or you feel as if your life is lacking meaning and purpose, prepare yourself to take a step of faith. Pray about where God would have you go today and then trust Him to lead you and guide you as you take that first step recalling to your mind, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step of faith.” Let the adventure begin, take that first step!

“From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

Psalm 61:2

I LOVE YOU!
