You Have Beautiful Eyes

“So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.”

Matthew 20:34

Javier Chavez is an amazing young man who might be bound to a wheel chair due to cerebral palsy but you wouldn’t know it from listening to him speak. He’s smart, he’s funny and he is overflowing with the love of Jesus. He shared his testimony at church last night and he said something that stuck with me long after he finished sharing. He said, “when we are in love, we see life differently.” It’s so true. People who love have beautiful eyes because they chose to look at life through the eyes of love.

Here is just a part of what Javy shared last night, “How many of you have been deeply in love? It’s a great feeling, I have experienced it . When we are in love, we see life differently, isn’t this true? In my case whenever I am in love, it motivates and empowers me more to accomplished more things. My second question is how much time would you want to spend with the one you love? When we are in love we usually want more hours in the day to spend with them, isn’t this true? I will tell you what I do when I am in love, maybe you will identify with me. As soon as I wake up I look for my phone to call her. During my breakfast, I call her just because. During my daily errands if I have free time, I text her or email saying, I love you or something like that. I look forward to evenings to see my love. When I can’t see her we talk on the phone for hours. Usually we start by saying what we did during the day. And if I had a hard day, she comforts me and vise versa. Then we talk about nonsense and many foolish things. How many of you have experienced this? Let me tell you that with God it’s the same procedure, we must cultivate our relationship with God daily. We have to know and experience Him personally in order to fall in love with Him.”

Love changes everything. Some say love is blind but actually the opposite is true. When we love we see things through God’s eyes, we appreciate people not for just the things they do but more important for who they are to us. We see the flaws, the hiccups and the hangups. They don’t just go away when we are in love, they just don’t get in the way of what’s become really important to us, which is them. Love coves a multitude of sin. Most of us would say one of the reasons we love someone is because of either how they make us feel when we are together or that we like the person we become when we are together. Thats the power of love. It changes us, it changes other people and it’s why God calls us to love one another as He has loved us. We are never more like God than when we love.

Hows your eyesight today? What do you see? Are you seeing the beauty around you and in other people today? If not, ask God to check your eyes and fill you with His love because love really does change the way we see everything. Love is 20/20 vision you might say. Galatians 5:22-23 reminds us of the fruit of God’s Spirit which is, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” 1 Corinthians 13 instructs us in what love does and how it goes about changing the way we see everything when the apostle Paul wrote, “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.”

Love changes everything because love is the greatest of gifts, love is the greatest power known to mankind, stronger than hatred or any other force the world knows and the best news of all is knowing in the end love wins! Love always prevails! 1 Corinthians 13:13 says it best, “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” And for the simple reason…

“God is love”

1 John 4:8

I LOVE YOU!
