Jesus IS Enough

“Also King Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel who were assembled with him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be counted or numbered for multitude.”

1 Kings 8:5

As Solomon prepared for the ark to be brought into the temple, no amount of sacrifice offered could be counted worthy of God’s presence but they did the best they could with what they had to offer. Historians tell us the blood of the sacrifices coming from the Temple in Jerusalem in Jesus day at Passover celebrations was so great it flowed like a river into the Kidron Valley below.

All these activities taking place were types and shadows to point to the greatest sacrifice ever offered, the Lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world. God never desired the blood of bulls and goats, sheep or oxen. What God desired then and now is simple obedience to His Word. Yet, when obedience failed sacrifices were made in an attempt to atone for sin. Listen to the words of Isaiah 1:11, “To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?” Says the Lord. “I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed cattle. I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs or goats.” No sacrifice could remove the sin, all the sacrifice provided was a covering for sin, and even then only temporarily. Peace with God was temporary at best.

That is why the sacrifices were made continually for sin. Hebrews 10:4 reminds us, “For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.” Only the precious blood of our Savior could take away sin completely. Jesus is not only our spot lifter, He is our spot remover! The efficacy of the Cross of Jesus Christ is discovered in the following passages that I pray help you rest in the finished work of the Cross. Because of Jesus we not only can experience peace with God but as well we can enjoy the peace of God.

Read for yourself with joy today what Jesus has done for us once and for all who put our hope and trust in Him, Romans 6:10 says, “For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.” Jesus death on the Cross was once and for all! Knowing that to be true look what Hebrews 7:27 reminds us of, “who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.” That’s right, the perfect sacrifice offered for you and me once and for all was none other than the Lamb of God, the Lord Jesus Christ who has purchased our redemption in His own blood. Hebrews 9:12 reminds us of the price Jesus paid and the outcome His atonement provides us, “Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”

If that isn’t enough truth for you for one day let me encourage you with the fact that because of Christ’s sacrifice and our receiving Him as Savior and Lord, we are now set apart to God and bound for heaven, saved from hell because of the perfect sinless sacrifice Jesus offered for u when He gave His life for you and for me as the Lamb of God on the Cross at Calvary.

We hear the term, “There is power in the blood of Jesus” and when we consider that Jesus gave His life for us over 2000 years ago and that same blood shed then is still working on our behalf today you get the idea of just how powerful and effective Jesus is in cleansing us from all our sin and securing our eternal salvation. Worthy then and worthy now is the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ!

“By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”

Hebrews 10:10

I LOVE YOU!
