The Ta-da of Heaven

“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”

Matthew 28:6

A Sunday school teacher was sharing with her third graders about the Resurrection, and she asked them a question. Speaking to her class she says, “OK, students, do any of you know the first words Jesus said when He left the tomb?” A little girl in the class named Bethany shot her hand up in the back of the class. So excited she knew the answer she yelled out, “I know, I know.” And so she stood up and said to the class, “Jesus' first words when he came out of the tomb were…and she opened her arms up as wide as she could and said, ta-da!”

Jesus is the Ta-da of heaven! On the Cross Jesus conquered sin and when He rose from the dead He conquered death. The disciples who had believed in Jesus while He was alive quickly unbelieved (I know that is not a real word but you get the point) when He died. The Bible tells us Peter and a few of the disciples left Jerusalem after Jesus death and headed back to the Sea of Galilee and went fishing. Other followers of Jesus hid out in homes out of fear of the Jews. All seemed to give up hope and for certain no one went to the tomb of Jesus not expecting Him to be there. Nobody expected nobody to be there and when they discovered nobody was there the Bible says they were amazed and fearful. Still, no one believed Jesus had risen from the grave, even though He had told them so. The consensus was someone stole Jesus body as that seemed to them the only logical conclusion.

I love the scene in John 20:19, “Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you." Jesus doesn’t knock on the door and say, “Its Jesus, open the door.” No, Jesus just comes and stands in their midst and basically says, “Ta-da.” What a moment that must of been for those gathered there in that room. Using a sports vernacular, life just went in a millisecond from “game over” to “game on.” Life would never be the same again for the followers of Jesus. The resurrection changed everything.

For the next forty days there would be many “Ta-da” moments as Jesus would appear to over 500 people at the same time besides the disciples. The resurrection of Jesus became the launch pad of the church as we know it today. Every religion has a leader but only One forever lives! Death couldn’t hold Jesus down and because of Jesus resurrection death can't hold those down who have placed their hope and trust in Him. Don’t take my word for it, take Jesus at His!

“Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"

John 11:25-26

I LOVE YOU!
