She Walks In Beauty

"Charm is deceitful and beauty in vain but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised."

Proverbs 31

As the month of February comes to a close the decorations in our home are slowly changing from hearts to things that remind my wife of springtime. Spring is her favorite time of year and I am pretty sure baseball will play a huge part in her decorating concepts in the days ahead. Hearts will aways be evident in our home though as hearts reflect some of my wife’s favorite decorations. This morning as I was moving things out of the spare bedroom so we can install flooring that has sat in our garage for well over a year now I feel like I am walking down memory lane as I carry one piece of my wife’s creations after another. As I do I enjoy looking back to when we first met and what attracted me to her all those years ago.

Though it’s been something like 37 years now, I can recall it like yesterday the first thing that caught my attention when I first met Lee. It was her eyes. She has the most beautiful blue eyes. It was Lord Byron who once wrote, "She walks in beauty, like the night of cloudless climes and starry skies, and all that's the best of dark and bright meet in her aspect and her eyes." He wrote that back in the early eighteen hundreds but I would have thought he could have penned those words sometime after May 3, 1961, when my wife was born. "She walks in beauty" sums up well my Ishtee, as she is, "the complete package" as she has the beauty and the brains to go along with her love for the Lord and yes, those beautiful eyes! Yes, you can say, "she walks in beauty".

I am not into interior decorating at all but I am into my wife and serving her and helping her make our house a home. It was William Shakespeare who penned the words in Romeo and Juliet, "My bounty is as boundless as the sea, my love as deep; the more I give to thee, the more I have, for both are infinite."  Love, it’s an amazing thing and a gift from God for us to enjoy and to share with Him and one another. Yet still, the best way we can count the ways God loves us is to open up the pages of our bibles and as we read, count all the ways He has loved us from ever lasting to ever lasting. It will blow you away to realize that you have been loved since before you were born! February, like Valentines Day comes and goes each year but the love of Jesus is from ever lasting to everlasting! Don't forget, true beauty is an inside out job. It begins with hearts, always with hearts and then works its way out!

How Do I love Thee

"How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
for the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's with.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
with my lost saints, I love thee with the breath,
smiles, tears, of all my life! And, if God choose,
I shall love thee better after death.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning

I LOVE YOU!
